So many girls want a return missionary. For some it seems that they will have nothing but the "best".
I will be truthful, because that's what we do here, I was one of those girls. Until I met a non-RM.
I had a sudden realization that marrying a guy who has been been on a mission isn't as important as what they are now. I'm not marrying someones past, I'm marrying their present and future. What I really should look for is a guy who is currently living the gospel, and will continue to live the gospel.
There's also the issue of someone who just didn't go because it wasn't for them. I don't know how we would explain that to our son, but I think that if it was the right decision for my husband, we wont really need to do any explaining. He has done His will, there's not much we can do about the consequences of His will.
There are also so many RMs that aren't temple worthy now. I don't think that because someone is an RM, makes them the perfect guy to marry. It helps, but it definitely shouldn't be a requirement for girls.
To put it simply, I don't need to marry an RM. It's a great thing to look for, but their present and future are the important things.
